Jacob's pony

So here is Jacob's pony! Next time I am hoping that the head isn't too small. I'm sure you have heard of over-correction.  You know what they say. The third time's a charm!

Doing the difficult thing!

Jacob's brown pony is finished! Hooray! Even with mistakes, I think he will like it.  So why is it that I must do the more difficult thing of making my own design of a pony? And why do I do it all the hard way? Do I really need the challenge? It would be easier to just use a pattern. I don't do better than any of the cool patterns that are out there. I think it's the feeling of doing what I imagine that I can do. The feeling of accomplishing a difficult thing. Like the SUDOKU puzzle that I try.  For the longest time I would pass on any of the more difficult ones. Then I decided to try. And I accomplished it! Doing something that is difficult is doable and worth the try. But only with some determination and stick-to-it-tivity! It doesn't just happen. Next time I think I'll do things in an easier way!
Our lives are so much like this. We avoid the hard stuff and not put forth the effort because we think something is too difficult. When all it takes is to jump in there and give it a try and learn to deal with the mistakes. There's always mistakes and it's a matter of learning how to deal with them. The more practice on dealing with mistakes and the more practice on doing a difficult thing the easier it becomes! So just jump in there and give something a try and see what can be learned! Hooray for learning! ......... I'll post a picture tomorrow......

Getting it right! A brown horse

What good does it do to correct some mistakes and then make other ones instead? I am about half way done with the brown horse. I got the neck too long this time. I think I can fix it and tuck it a bit. But I won't be able to have a pattern for a cool horse unless I get it right. It can't be right here and then wrong there and good sometimes but not all the time. It needs to be right the whole way through. This will also apply in our lives. It's not all that easy to get my yarn and needles to cooperate with my imagination. It takes time to get it all to come together, but I do believe that it will eventually come and I am making improvements. I am happy to have the opportunity to make another horse, after I knit a bag then another one is on the way!

Finished the pink pony!

I finally got the pink pony finished! It has its problems and you will be able to see where I tucked it in. But the time for this pony is gone and I had to just finish it. Now I'm starting a brown horse. Our lives are like this also. We work things through, take a double look and redo. Then there comes a point that we must move on. We just need to forgive ourselves for the mistakes made, that cannot be redone, and go forward....

My youngest daughter, Beverly, made this cross stitch pillow for my birthday! It's beautiful!

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for reading!

Learning!

As I try to learn something new, I learn more than what I set out to do. It seams it always happens that way. I set out to learn to make my own pattern, my own design.  I have been knitting my own pink pony. It hasn't been easy, but it's more like knit and frog (rip-it rip-it rip-it out) But if I had not kept notes, it would not be possible to correct the errors or get it right. What good does it do to learn something and not apply it? If I don't make another horse, I will have wasted my time. So hopefully I'll finish the pink pony today and start the brown horse!  It just doesn't work to quit half way through. The same goes for my quest to lose these pesky 30 pounds! I guess this means I need to keep better track of what I do, so I know where I'm messing up and how I can fix things!

Happy birthday to me! Now I'm 53! Hubby took me for a hike in the South Hills! It was chilly, but oh so worth it!

A pink pony..... continuing to learn!

I have frogged the pink pony more than once! I am hopefully going to eventually get it right. I had to do some tucking and reshaping on this one, but I do plan on doing 2 more horses very soon. I will begin again and hopefully I'll have a pattern that others will be able to use. I am hoping to have something worth selling when I'm finished. I think learning is sometimes a slow process. I am learning much more than how to knit something of my own design and write the pattern for it. .... I am leaning that it's okay to just get in there and try. I can't figure out much till I actually try what I think might work. The same is in life. I need to try to do what I think might work! I am also trying to lose 30 pounds and I think of ways to make it work and then if I don't put them into practice, then it won't ever happen. So I guess I better get on with my day and make stuff happen!

A pink pony!

Today, my knitting took the back burner as I watched 4 of my 17 grandkids, from three different families. It's always interesting and fun to babysit!
I am working on a pink pony and learning to design my own pattern. I am excited to be able to do this. The pony's head and neck are done and I'm now working on the legs and back. I started at the nose and will work my way down to the tail. It's been quite a learning experience to design my own pattern! I will need to make another horse before a pattern will be ready for others to enjoy. It's right around the corner. My granddaughter, will be 5 on Feb. 18 and the pink pony is for her, so it should be done, by then. I'm planning a horse for one of my grandsons who will be 4 on the 28th. I should be able to have a pattern ready by then. I am also making a scripture bag for my sister-in-law. She does tatting and Brazilian Embroidery. So I am planning to make a tatted flower on one side and some Brazilian Embroidery on the other! Another learning experience in the making!
